Toho's latest Godzilla Minus Zero trailer is here and puts the spotlight on King Ghidorah's lightning-like gravity beams and Godzilla's iconic atomic breath.
This new sneak peek at the King of the Monsters and the latest iteration of his archnemesis debuted as part of New York Comic Con 2026. Toho refrained from showing its new design for Ghidorah yet again, but there's still plenty of new footage to see in the one-minute video.
How did Noriko Oishi (Minami Hamabe) survive Godzilla's first attack? That's the question Godzilla Minus Zero teases an answer for in its second full-length trailer. It looks like viewers are in for pure carnage this time around, as the three-headed kaiju zaps any airborne structures out of the sky left and right. You can see how the sequel's returning human crew will "fight fire with fire" next month in the trailer below.

With less than a month until its premiere, it seems the filmmakers behind the Godzilla Minus One sequel are going to save the full Ghidorah reveal for those who go to the theater. We'll at least know how the character has been redesigned for the Minus universe when it premieres November 6.
Godzilla Minus Zero's NYCC presence wasn't just limited to this electrifying new trailer, though. Producer Kazuaki Kishida, visual effects artist and compositor Tatsuji Nojima, sound designer and Foley artist Natsuko Inoue, and production and post-production sound mixer Hisafumi Takeuchi all gathered in New York for a panel covering the sequel and how it came to be. IGN attended the talk and came away with a few highlights.
Nojima, who walked away from Godzilla Minus One as the first Gen Z Oscar winner in the visual effects category, said his time working on the 2023 film started simply as a hobby before director Takashi Yamazaki took note of his abilities. Kishida joked, "I don't know if I'd have a job right now" if not for the 25-year-old VFX artist's work, but Nojima isn't the only younger member of the crew.
"There are even younger team members on the Godzilla Minus Zero team – 22, 23," Kishida said via translator. "They're talented enough to be given an entire cut or a scene to manage on their own. Director Yamazaki really likes working with young talent. I think he's very open-minded, and he absorbs whatever fresh takes or new ways younger artists are approaching different problems, and how they're solving it. There isn't really an age hierarchy in his organization. Everyone works very collaboratively, and I think it's a very good environment for young artists to try and flex what they have."
One VFX-packed scene that viewers have already caught in trailers sees Godzilla emerging from the ocean while chasing after a plane. Even short moments like this can be quite complicated to bring to life when skyscraper-sized monsters are involved. Godzilla Minus Zero's status as the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX only made the process more complex, which is why it's especially impressive that the ocean scene in question required 2 billion particles and was made by just two people.
Meanwhile, the crew had to get especially creative when trying to imagine what creatures like Godzilla and Ghidorah would sound like in real life. In Godzilla Minus One, the echo of its title kaiju's unmistakable roar was recorded by capturing audio of his voice in a baseball stadium. Introducing a new monster with Godzilla Minus Zero then took them to record audio in a dam.
"I recall there were people having a picnic, maybe people just taking a stroll," Inoue said. "The person walking their dog, though, they had the worst time because the dog was freaking out and barking back at us."
It'll all come together in just a few short weeks. In the meantime, you can see why IGN gave Godzilla Minus One an 8/10. We've also already got a review for Godzilla Minus Zero, and you can see why we gave it a 7/10 here.
