The latest clip for A Minecraft Movie has given fans a first look at the iconic crafting table in action, as Jack Black's Steve shows Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man how to make an iron sword.
Minecraft developer Mojang hosted its 2024 Minecraft Live event over the weekend and, alongside revealing new additions for the beloved survival game, it also shared a clip from the incoming A Minecraft Movie.
The clip showed Steve demonstrating the power of the crafting table to the Minecraft newcomers. This is the most important item in the game that allows players to create everything from shovels to explosives to cake.
OK, maybe the movie will grow on us. Does this clip make you excited about the movie? Could you get used to the art style with more context? #MinecraftMovie #MinecraftLive2024 pic.twitter.com/1rVRgH3yj5

A Minecraft Movie is certainly sticking to the fundamentals of the crafting table, as just like in the game, Steve lines out materials in a certain order to craft something. He puts a stick below two pieces of iron to create an iron sword, for example, hitting it with a hammer to make the blade materialise.
The film has been fairly heavily scrutinised by fans so far, mostly for its mix of live action cast against a completely animated background.
The first trailer arrived earlier in September ahead of A Minecraft's Movie April 4, 2025 release date and drew much ire from the community. Someone even remade it as a completely animated project, which seemingly went down much better with fans.
