Ewan McGregor on Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2: 'No Talk of It Yet. There Is a Lot Going on at Disney'

Star Wars star Ewan McGregor has given fans a disappointing update on Obi-Wan Kenobi, saying there's a lot happening at Disney but no talks of Season 2 yet.

As reported by Variety, McGregor gave the update during a panel at the Goteborg Film Festival, reiterating how eager he is to make more of the Disney+ show but admitting it's not looking likely for the time being.

"I would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet," McGregor said. "There is a lot going on at Disney."

Four Star Wars shows are coming to Disney+ in 2024. The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, The Bad Batch Season 3, and Tales of the Jedi Season 2 are all expected, though Andor's highly anticipated second season is missing from the schedule.

Season 1 of Obi-Wan Kenobi earned an 8/10 in IGN's review but Disney appears reluctant to announce more despite quickly greenlighting subsequent seasons of other shows and even a film sequel to The Mandalorian.

McGregor has been campaigning for a second season for a long time, even pitching ideas to director Deborah Chow and insisting "there's another 10 years with plenty of stories" to tell. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy hasn't ruled out another season, saying the company might turn its attention back to Obi-Wan Kenobi "down the road".

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
