Sony Pictures has released a chilling new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, teasing ancient mysteries, spectral surprises, and cross-generational bustin' to save the world from a second Ice Age.
The latest trailer doubles down on the nostalgia by bringing back franchise favourites Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts for a gloriously ghostly adventure with the new crew of Spenglers headed up by Carrie Coon, along with Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, plus Paul Rudd's Gary Grooberson.
Another familiar face is that of William Atherton, reprising his role of Walter Peck from the 1984 movie. The former Environmental Protection Agency inspector looks to be giving the phantom fighters a tough time (again), but that won't stop them from firing up their proton packs to take down the army of ghosts invading New York.
The trailer features several supernatural entities, new and old, of all shapes and sizes, including a mysterious horned beast and an icy sewer dragon, together with the return of the hair-raisingly hellish library ghost and gluttonous ghoul Slimer, prompting the Ghostbusters to take the Ectomobile for a spin around the city.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, directed by Gil Kenan and co-written by Jason Reitman, is set to thaw in theaters on March 22, 2024, after Sony brought its release date forward a week. It now premieres in the same month as Denis Villeneuve's Dune Part Two, Blumhouse's Imaginary, and DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda 4.
