Millie Bobby Brown Fantasy Flick Damsel Gets First Netflix Trailer

Mille Bobby Brown fights a dragon in the first trailer for her new film, Damsel.

This first-look teaser shows Brown fighting for survival as she’s stalked by an unseen dragon, but while it looks a bit like Lord of the Rings, it’s more of a fairytale with a twist.

You see, Princess Elodie (played by Brown) has agreed to marry a handsome prince, only to find out she’s been duped by a nefarious Queen (Robin Wright) and is actually a human sacrifice.

“For generations, it has been our task to protect our people,” says Wright’s evil Queen as we watch Princess Elodie fight for survival. “So tonight, you join a long line of women who have helped to build this kingdom… The price is dear, but so too the reward.”

Here’s the official synopsis:

“A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.”

Alongside several shots of Brown’s young princess evading incineration by dragon, we see a selection of clips showcasing the kingdom and its subjects, with Wright, Nick Robinson, and Angela Bassett playing prominent roles.

There’s also an eerie hint that this isn’t the first time this sacrifice has happened, as Princess Elodie discovers a grim wall of names as she works her way through a perilous cave.

Damsel is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau. Brown and Wright star alongside Ray Winstone, Brooke Carter, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Damsel will debut on Netflix in 2024.
