Why Fans Think Loki Season 2 Has a Link to X-Men

Warning: This article contains full spoilers for Loki's Season 2 premiere, which is now streaming on Disney+.

The first episode of Loki Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+, and eagle-eyed fans think that the premiere includes a link to X-Men after spotting what appears to be a visual reference to the franchise.

The episode, titled "Ouroboros", found Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief lost to time and torn, quite literally, between past, present, and future. Ke Huy Quan's new fan-favourite character, O.B., is enlisted to help Loki with his time-slipping problem and uses a Temporal Aura Extractor to extract him from the timestream.

Some people noticed a striking resemblance between the door leading to the Temporal Loom in Loki and the entrance of Cerebro in Fox's X-Men franchise, posting the two side-by-side. The comparisons prompted speculation as to whether the moment is a fun Easter egg or hinting at a possible X-Men connection.

The majority agreed it was an intentional nod, but questions remain over its significance. The observation is all the more pertinent because it comes one week after the news of an X-Men movie reportedly being in early development at Marvel Studios, heightening people to everything X-Men related within the MCU.

The familiar-looking X-marked door was not the only apparent Easter egg in the premiere, as fans also noticed an interesting little nod to the Thor comics in the post-credits scene, leaving fans with some big questions about the future.

Only time will tell how it all plays out. Loki Season 2 will debut new episodes every Thursday on Disney+ through November 9.
