Castlevania: Nocturne Renewed for a Second Season

Netflix's latest foray into the Castlevania universe, Castlevania: Nocturne, has been renewed for a second season just one week after the first season debuted.

The second season will see Sam and Adam Deats once again co-direct, and will follow the "next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont" per showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde. Apart from that, we got a look at a brief, sketch-like teaser for the second season, but otherwise have no details on when the season might arrive, or what it might entail:

Nocturne's first season takes place 300 years after the end of the original, four-season Netflix Castlevania series and follows Richter Belmont, a descendent of Trevor Belmont and heir to his legacy. It takes place in France at the height of the French Revolution, when conveniently a "Vampire Messiah" of sorts has appeared to devour the sun and unleash the fiends of hell on the world. Since it's still fairly fresh, we won't spoil it for you further, but know that if you're hoping to see at least one cameo of a character from the original series, you won't be disappointed.

We called Nocturne a 'disarmingly potent, relentlessly violent follow-up to one of the best animated video game adaptations ever" in our 9/10 review of the first season, so if you've been holding off, know that it's well-worth the watch.
