The New Rick and Morty Voice Actors Have Been Revealed

The new voice actors replacing Justin Roiland as the titular Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith in Rick and Morty have been revealed in the credits of the season 7 premiere, with Ian Cardoni the new voice of Rick and Harry Belden as Morty.

Adult Swim announced it would recast Rick, Morty, and all other roles previously performed by series creator Justin Roiland after Roiland departed the show earlier this year. Roiland's departure follows charges of domestic violence brought against him and subsequently dropped, and ongoing revelations of divisions between Roiland and his co-creators on both Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites.

Prior to the reveal, Adult Swim confirmed that the plan was to use Rick and Morty soundalikes in its recasting, and to continue running the show as normal for subsequent seasons sans Roiland. The eighth season has already been written, and a ninth season is in the works as well.

We reviewed the first two episodes of the new season of Rick and Morty and found that Roiland's departure has largely not impacted the series. Our reviewer wrote that the new voice actors playing the title characters "sound pretty much identical to Roiland and the first two episodes of season 7 offer the same mix of sharp meta humor, emotional depth, and grotesque animation that has always made Rick and Morty great, delivering bombastic standalone adventures that offer just a bit of character growth."
