Kojima is 'Deeply Involved' In the Death Stranding Movie

Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima will be "deeply involved" in the upcoming film adaptation but has confirmed he won't be directing.

As reported by Games Radar, Kojima took to Twitter (below) to reveal the long list of departments he'll be involved with for Death Stranding's film adaptation.

"Just to be clear, I am deeply involved in producing, supervising, plotting, look, design, and content of the film adaptation of [Death Stranding], just not in charge of directing," Kojima said.

The award winning game director hasn't been shy about sharing his desire to work in films previously. "Game Creator: 70% of my body is made of movies", reads his Twitter bio, for example.

Many fans therefore expected the Death Stranding film to be his first foray into film directing, given it's being made by his own studio, Kojima Productions, in partnership with Hammerstone Studios. But he will instead remain in a producer role.

The film was announced in December last year and will "introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe", though very little else has been said about it. Kojima has always been adamant that his studio would begin making films, and opened a movie, TV, and music division in 2021.

Finally living out that dream with the Death Stranding film, Kojima said he "couldn’t be more excited" at the time and called it "a pivotal moment" for the franchise.
