Foundation Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date and Teaser Trailer

Apple TV+ has shared a teaser trailer for Foundation Season 2 and announced that the first episode will premiere on July 14, with new episodes dropping weekly, every Friday.

The trailer for the highly anticipated second season opens more than a century after the season one finale. The footage reveals mounting tensions through the galaxy as a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within while a band of exiles rally together to try to save humanity.

The new glimpse shows several returning cast members, including Jared Harris as Hari Seldon, Lee Pace as Brother Day, and Lou Llobell as Gaal Dornick. Hari and Gaal are among the group who discovers a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory.

The latest poster features the tagline "All Empires Fall," which links to the actions of The Foundation as the group enters its religious phase, "promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire," per the official synopsis.

Hailing from David S. Goyer, Foundation is a complex saga based on the book series by Isaac Asimov. It was first announced by Apple TV+ in 2018 and premiered in September 2021, making the announcement of the summer 2023 release for Season 2 a welcome surprise to fans.

IGN praised the premiere of the first season, noting that it started off as "a visually stunning, epic show that lives up to Isaac Asimov's classic" by successfully balancing "grand and complex ideas, a big ensemble cast, and a huge world with emotional and grounded human stories."
