Elon Musk has officially announced the new CEO of Twitter. Linda Yaccarino, who previously served as the chairman of global advertising and partnerships for NBCUniversal, will take over.

Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app. https://t.co/TiSJtTWuky
Musk previously announced yesterday that he selected a successor to succeed him at Twitter and X Corp. (Twitter's parent company) and that the individual would start in six weeks. Before Musk announced that Yaccarino was the new CEO, The Wall Street Journal reported last night that she was "in talks" to take over the role.
Although Musk will no longer be the CEO of Twitter after he acquired the company last year, he still owns X Corp. and will assume the role of Executive Chair and CTO, "overseeing product, software, software & sysops."
In the tweet announcing hew hiring, Musk noted that Yaccarino could help Twitter become the "everything app." In recent months, Musk has been focusing on finding ways to bring money to the platform, from charging developers to use its API, removing legacy verified checkmarks, and giving a blue checkmark to anyone that subscribes to Twitter Blue for just $8 as the most notable examples.
Yaccaino's hiring may help circumvent Twitter's money woes. As The Wall Street Journal pointed out, Yaccarino had been with NBCUniversal for over a decade and was "an industry advocate for finding better ways to measure the effectiveness of advertising," further noting she was a key figure in the launch of NBCUniversal's ad-supported streaming service, Peacock.
