Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer Shows More Story, Even More Spider-People

Sony has dropped a new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, offering a better look at the sequel's story and its "elite crew with all the best Spider-people."

The trailer sees Miles Morales trying to strike a balance between being a student and also Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, he soon finds himself catapulted into an adventure across the multiverse with Gwen Stacy and a team of Spider-people.

We also get our best look yet at Oscar Isaac's Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099, who seemingly references the events of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home in conversation with Miles when he says: "Don't even get me started on Doctor Strange and the little nerd back on Earth-199999!"

This dialogue might trigger some head-scratching and continuing debate from viewers as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness previously established the MCU timeline as Earth-616, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has also backed that up in interviews.

However, previous discussions of the matter have highlighted that the MCU was listed as Earth-19999 in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z, Volume 5, which was published in October 2008, while the main Marvel Comics universe has long been designated as Earth-616.

We'll see how this unfolds when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 2, though there may be one or two distractions as the movie seeks to 'wow' audiences with six major art styles.
