The first teaser trailer for Scream VI is here, giving fans a glimpse of the next chilling chapter in the decades-long slasher saga as Ghostface sets out to unleash a new reign of terror in New York.
The brief trailer takes the franchise to a new setting as it sees the survivors of Ghostface's last murderous rampage leave the small town of Woodsboro behind to start a fresh chapter in New York, but it's not long until the Big Apple turns bad as the mask-wearing menace shows up on a subway alongside a crowd of commuters in fancy dress attire.
A new poster for Scream VI was also unveiled with the trailer, showing Ghostface glaring out of a window panel on a New York City subway. The tagline on the image reads: "New York. New Rules," further emphasizing the fact that the "most aggressive and violent version" of the franchise villain has all-new ground to slay in.
The sequel sees the return of Jenna Ortega's Tara Carpenter, Melissa Barrera's Sam Carpenter, Jasmin Savoy Brown's Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Mason Gooding's Chad Meeks-Martin. Courtney Cox reprises her role as Gale Weathers, a character she's played in all the Scream movies so far, while Hayden Panettiere is back as Scream 4's Kirby Reed.
Scream VI is set for release on March 10, 2023, just over a year after the fifth installment unleashed more terror from the Ghostface killer.
IGN praised 2022's Scream entry for managing to successfully carve out "a future for the franchise that some may not have thought possible with a tight story, great performances, and stellar new directions."
