With Rick and Morty's sixth season coming to an end on December 11 with the Holiday-themed episode “Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation,” you might be looking for another wicked, clever comedy to fill up your precious eye time until the series returns for Season 7.

Like Rick and Morty, one of the true pleasures of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's Futurama is that it's damn good sci-fi. And good sci-fi can be hard to find, much less good sci-fi comedy. Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the Planet Express gang prove that they're up to the task in virtually every episode of this soon to be thrice-resurrected series. That's right, after being off the air since 2013, Hulu has revived the series with a 20-episode order set to premiere in 2023.

The Venture Bros.
Where to Watch: HBO Max, Hulu
Where Rick and Morty took the Doc Brown/Marty McFly blueprint for its premise, long-running spy spoof series The Venture Bros. took its initial cues from 1964 animated sci-fi adventure series Jonny Quest. This Adult Swim classic took the well-worn tropes of Jonny Quest and updated them into mischievous, meta brilliance. The brothers themsevles are dimwitted Hank and Dean Venture, who thanks to their sketchy hyper-intelligent scientist dad find themselves in all manner of mishaps. After 15 years the show finally came to an end in 2018, though there are Venture Bros. movies supposedly coming to HBO Max.
Harley Quinn

Despite not being able to do everything they'd like to do with the characters, the executive producers on HBO Max's Harley Quinn are still able to keep things outlandishly chaotic and hilarious. This particular take on Dr. Harleen Quinzel finds Joker's ex-squeeze trying to make a name of her own in the ranks of Gotham's top villains, discovering both love and friendship along the way. It's perfect for those who love the fast-paced, hyper-violent nuttiness of Rick and Morty, and actually has some of the best character work this particular corner of the DC-verse has done in years.
Archer
Where to Watch: Hulu
FX's (now FXX's) long-running Archer, which just wrapped up its 13th season in 2022, began as a lavish lampooning of the spy-thriller. But over the course of its tenure the story has taken numerous detours into different genres, like a classic noir mystery or a recent Amazonian adventure. Archer is savvy, snarky and full of memorable quotes - and best of all it has over a decade of programming to sink your teeth into.
Solar Opposites

If you like what Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland's been serving up during that show's six-season (so far) run, then you'll absolutely want to check out Hulu's Solar Opposites, which Roiland cooked up with co-EP Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks). Following a team of four aliens who escape their exploding homeworld only to crash land into a move-in-ready home in suburban America, Solar Opposites is overflowing with quick wit and subversive humor.
Community

When Rick and Morty began, the biggest name in the creative bunch was co-creator Dan Harmon. The reason? NBC's cult comedy Community, which showcased Harmon's devilish intelligence and comedic creativity. So why not revisit this beloved show, even for its non-Harmon fourth season? Plus, there's finally a Community movie making its way to Peacock. Yes, the "six seasons and a movie" line that started out as a cheeky quote from Community’s early seasons is now an actual truth.
Gravity Falls
Where to Watch: Disney+, Hulu
Even though it's not exactly "mature content," Gravity Falls is a delightfully warped watch for all ages. Alex Hirsch's story of twins Dipper and Mabel (Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal) and their "Grunkle" Stan's Oregonian Mystery Shack was a quirky, and gently twisted, heart-warmer. Smart, satirical, and sweet, it's a one-of-a-kind gem.
Koala Man
Where to Watch: Hulu (on January 9)
This one is a bit of a cheat since it hasn't premiered yet, but Koala Man, based on Michael Cusack's web series, is headed to Hulu with the help of Rick & Morty's Justin Roiland and Pokémon Detective Pikachu writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. This animated family comedy follows a family man who also stamps out petty crime and protects his Australian community. Guest voices will include Hugh Jackman, Jemaine Clement, and Hugo Weaving.
