TV Icon Kolchak the Night Stalker Crosses Over With Classic Movie Monsters

The TV series Kolchak the Night Stalker maintains a cult following even decades later, and now Carl Kolchak is once again making the jump to comics. And as befits this intrepid investigator of all things dark and supernatural, he'll be crossing paths with classic movie monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein.

With the crowdfunding campaign for Kolchak Meets the Classic Monsters live now, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of one of the stories featured within. Check out the slideshow gallery below for a closer look at "Kolchak Meets Frankenstein":

"Kolchak Meets Frankenstein" is written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and drawn by George Quadros (Avatar: The High Ground), with colors by Zac Atkinson and a cover by Russ Braun.

This anthology collection also features "Kolchak Meets the Werewolf and Count Crowley," from Count Crowley creators David Dastmalchian and Lucas Ketner, colorist Zac Atkinson, and variant cover artist Matt Wagner, and "Kolchak Meets Dracula," from writer Rodney Barnes, artist Alex Lins, and cover artist Colton Worley.

“I am thrilled to be working with Monstrous Books on the new Kolchak: The Night Stalker comic line," Niles said in a statement. "With writers as great as David Dastmachian and Rodney Barnes also involved, this will be a very special release. I grew up on Kolchak and I have Frankenstein on the brain. Getting the chance to write both has been an amazing experience.”

"One of the biggest inspirations for my character, Jerri Bartman aka Count Crowley is Kolchak," said Dastmalchian. "I love nontraditional heroes who are thrust into harrowing and thrilling circumstances because of fate. I always hoped there would be a world in which these two monster-hunting journalists could cross paths and I'm over the full moon that it's happening here on the pages of a comic drawn by none other than Lukas Ketner. Prepare, monster kids! The werewolf is loose in Chicago and Kolchak's going to need some help if his hat isn't going to be shredded to pieces."

The Kickstarter campaign for Kolchak Meets the Classic Monsters features both individual issues and a hardcover collection of all three stories, along with bonus items like trading cards and even a Kolchak-themed challenge coin.
