The director of the Will Smith-starring 2004 film I, Robot has accused Elon Musk of stealing his film's ideas for Tesla designs.
Alex Proyas posted on X/Twitter a couple of days after Tesla revealed the Cybercab, a self-driving robotic taxi, to point out what he claimed were similarities between it and the cars from 2004 sci-fi film I, Robot.
"Hey Elon, can I have my designs back please?," Proyas said, with images of the Cybercab and the I, Robot car side by side.

Beyond that, however, Proyas also posted side by side images of the Tesla Optimus robot with the film's robots and the Tesla robovan next to a similar design in the film.
I, Robot arrived in 2004, so long before any of these Tesla designs were revealed. It told the story of Smith's character Del Spooner as he investigated a murder seemingly at the hands of the robotic police force employed in 2035 Chicago.
Neither Musk nor Tesla have responded to the post from Proyas but IGN has asked Tesla for comment.
