The Crow has struggled to take flight at the box office, opening in eighth place and grossing $4.6 million in the U.S. and Canada.
As reported by Deadline, The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs, flopped at the box office in its opening weekend with a haul of only $4.6 million in the U.S. and Canada, plus an additional $4.6 million overseas, per Box Office Mojo, which puts its worldwide gross under $10 million against a reported $50 million budget.
The outlet further notes that the original film, starring Brandon Lee as the central character, opened to $11.7 million in the U.S. and Canada when it hit screens in 1994, which, adjusted for inflation, would be an estimated $35.5 million in 2024, putting it way out in front of the reboot that has arrived in theaters 30 years later.
2024's The Crow is a modern adaptation of James O'Barr's graphic novel of the same name, telling the story of soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster, who are "brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them." After being resurrected, Eric "sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers."
It appears in eighth place on the box office chart for the weekend in the U.S. and Canada, placed behind the anniversary re-release of Coraline, Twisters, The Forge, Blink Twice, It Ends With Us, Alien: Romulus, and Deadpool & Wolverine, which reclaimed the top spot in its fifth weekend of release with an extra $18.3 million.
The Crow has received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, with IGN giving the movie a "Mediocre" 5/10 in its review.
