Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the next TV series focused on a galaxy far, far away, will premiere in early December. And today, Disney has provided fans with the first look at the long-awaited Disney+ series.
At Disney D23, the House of Mouse showed off the first Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer, which was also released online. You can watch it below:
Star Jude Law was on hand at D23 to present the footage, calling the show "a timeless adventure story in the spirit of Goonies and ET."
"What I love most about this series, it is told through the perspective from the kids as they explore dangerous worlds, not sure who they can trust," he continued.
Star Wars Skeleton Crew was announced at the 2022 Star Wars Celebration. Set around the same time frame as the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew "follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law," says Disney's official synopsis "Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined."
In addition to Law, Skeleton Crew also stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost.
Despite the more kid-friendly premise of the show, Skeleton Crew co-creator Christopher Ford revealed that the show will still have significant stakes despite its target demographic aimed at younger viewers. "All the stakes are as real as possible: the kids think they're in Andor," Ford said in an interview with Empire magazine in May 2023.
The show's first season will consist of 8 episodes. It was supposed to be released in 2023; however, by late 2023, Disney revealed the series premiere date was pushed back to 2024. The show is slated to debut with a two-episode series premiere on December 3, 2024.
