Netflix's One Piece Season 2 Adds Ant-Man's David Dastmalchian and More

Netflix's live action One Piece series has added Ant-Man and Suicide Squad actor David Dastmalchian and more in Season 2 as it confirms the Baroque Works arc.

Dastmalchian will play Mr. 3 in Season 2, a dastardly villain with powers from the Wax Wax devil fruit which lets him create and control candle wax, who is also a member of the criminal organization Baroque Works.

Revealed in an X/Twitter post, his casting comes alongside Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, and Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9. Baroque Works deploys its agents in pairs: men named after numbers and women named after holidays.

Mr. 3 was the subject of Netflix's first tease for the second season, as star Iñaki Godoy appeared on his character Luffy's birthday with cake and a candle shaped like the villain's hair.

Fans of the live action adaptation of the beloved manga may recognize the Baroque Works name already, as the organization was mentioned during an early Season 1 scene where Zoro killed a red haired Mr. 7.

Little else has been said about Season 2 since its renewal in September 2023, though Netflix is reportedly targeting a 2025 premiere date with filming expected to begin in June 2024. Jamie Lee Curtis will seemingly play a character called Doctor Kureha too, after sharing her interest in the role and the team saying "at this point we're writing for her".

Season 2 will otherwise present some interesting challenges for the Netflix team as it introduces a three foot tall human/reindeer hybrid called Tony Tony Chopper to the main cast of characters. It's also played around with some expectations regarding another major Season 2 character, which will likely be fully addressed at some point during the season.
