The Home Alone House Is Up for Sale

Fans of the Christmas classic Home Alone can now consider buying the actual house where Macaulay Culkin's shenanigans took place.

As reported by Deadline, the Home Alone house has been listed for sale for a hefty $5.25 million. Located in Winnetka, Illinois in the U.S., the front of the house still looks exactly as it did in the 1990 film, but renovations in 2018 will leave the inside a tad unfamiliar.

While the five bedrooms and three bathrooms seem plenty capable of hosting the myriad McCallisters, the film was missing scenes where Kevin watches Angels With Filthy Souls in a private cinema or shoots triples from an NBA-standard basketball court, which both now live inside the house. It's otherwise absent of all traps, and the listing makes no mention of any water damage caused by the Wet Bandits.

This listing is for a normal house and thus comes in a separate category, but the fantasy of visiting real life versions of homes from films and TV shows has recently grown in popularity thanks to property renting website Airbnb.

The company revealed its new line of Icons earlier in May 2024, a collection of special houses and apartments designed to recreate fantastical spaces, which included a real life X-Men '97 mansion, the house from Up (which actually "floats" with thousands of balloons above it), and more. Past Icons have included Barbie's Malibu Dream House and even Shrek's Swamp.
