Game of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Shares First Look at Sci-Fi Film He's Producing

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has shared a first look at a sci-fi short film he's producing called The Summer Machine, which is reportedly the first in an anthology.

As reported by Deadline, the image, below, shows Martin himself sitting in a chair against a backdrop of some sort of sci-fi machinery. Very little is known about the film, though anonymous sources have told Deadline it will be the first of a new sci-fi anthology.

Michael Cassutt, a writer on The Twilight Zone, is directing from his own script, with Steve Graham, Elias Gallegos, and Mark Steinig all producing alongside Martin. The Summer Machine stars Lina Esco alongside Charles Martin Smith and Matt Frewer.

When asked for a statement on The Summer Machine, Martin didn't give anything away and instead made a joke referencing a popular line from Game of Thrones. "Summer is coming", he said, parodying Ned Stark's famous "Winter is coming" line.

Martin, who after the Game of Thrones TV show wrapped began working with HBO on adapting more spin-offs of his work including House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and more, recently spoke out on his dislike for TV show and film adaptations.

"They never make it better, though," he said. "999 times out of 1,000, they make it worse." Martin neglected to mention which category Game of Thrones falls into.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
