Fallout star Ella Purnell has landed the lead role in The Scurry, a new horror-comedy about a savage band of killer squirrels.
Fresh from fighting feral ghouls and gigantic gulpers in Prime Video's hit series Fallout, Purnell has a new threat to contend with: Slayer squirrels. That's because she has joined the cast of Craig Roberts' comedy-horror The Scurry, playing "a park attendant who must use her unique skills and strength to survive," per Screen Daily.
Purnell joins previously announced cast members Rhys Ifans, Paapa Essiedu, and Antonia Thomas. Olivia Cooke and Mia McKenna-Bruce were previously attached to the project but have now pulled out due to scheduling conflicts with the production, as cameras are currently rolling on the squirrel-infested flick in the UK.
"Fallout is the biggest show on the planet right now, so to have the lead actress join our squirrel movie is incredibly exciting for the production team and our worldwide distribution partners," said executive producer James Scott.
Before Fallout, Purnell was perhaps best known for the role of Jackie in the hit TV show Yellowjackets but also had a memorable turn in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. She voiced Jinx in the League of Legends series Arcane and appeared alongside Dave Bautista in Zack Snyder's zombie movie Army of the Dead.
The Scurry will offer her a complete change of scene as the screenplay for the movie, written by Tim Telling, follows "two pest controllers called to a country park café to investigate a routine vermin problem, only for an avalanche of deranged squirrels to descend at nightfall, wreaking mayhem on the staff and visitors in the park."
The Scurry does not yet have a release date, but there are a bunch of horror movies on Netflix to keep you busy in the meantime.
