Fallout TV Show Clip Shows The Ghoul Ready to Claim a Bounty

The first clip of the Fallout TV show shows Walton Goggins' The Ghoul coming to claim a bounty in what could be his first meeting with Ella Purnell's Vault Dweller.

The clip premiered on the Late Night with Seth Meyers, where Goggins appeared to promote the Fallout TV show. It shows The Ghoul arriving in a decimated town (so a normal one for Fallout) looking for a doctor, before being told his kind "ain't welcome here" by an old woman familiar to those who've seen the trailers.

"Well, maybe not, but I'm gonna make myself welcome," he said. "Last night a bounty came in through all six agencies. A hefty price on the head of a man that fits the description of that fella right there," as he points to someone behind the woman.

Piecing together this clip with a handful of shots from the trailer and teaser for Fallout and it's clear things don't resolve amicably. In these we saw the Vault Dweller shoot The Ghoul with a tranquilizer, which he laughed at and said he's full of drugs already.

Another clip showed what appears to be the next stage of this interaction, with The Ghoul blowing apart myriad members of the town in a bloody battle.

Goggins also revealed on the show that getting in costume for the first time required five hours of make-up, and said he wanted the character to look like "Kris Kristofferson if he were 250 years old and he'd been drinking all night".

The entire first season of Fallout hits Amazon Prime Video on April 11, 2024 and is set to be a "non interactive version" of Fallout 5 according to showrunner Jonathan Nolan. That being said, the lead on the Fallout video game series on which the series is based, Todd Howard, said he told writers what elements they couldn't use because they actually will be in Fallout 5.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
