The One Piece Is a New Anime Remake of the Beloved Manga Headed to Netflix From WIT Studio

Just before the One Piece anime's Final Saga begins, it was announced that a new remake of the beloved manga is currently in development for Netflix by Attack on Titan and Spy x Family's WIT Studio.

The news was shared during Jump Festa 2024 alongside a teaser and some gorgeous art for the series. While no release date or casting information was revealed, it was confirmed it will start from the East Blue saga, just where the manga and original anime began.

WIT Studio was founded in 2012 and has, in addition to working on Spy x Family and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, has also worked on Ranking of Kings and the first seasons of The Ancient Magus' Bride and Vinland Saga.

One Piece began its legendary run as a manga from Eiichiro Oda in July 1997. It was then adapted into an anime in 1999 that is still going strong today with over 1,000 episodes. It also had a live-action remake on Netflix earlier this year.

In our review of the live-action One Piece adaptation from Netflix, we said it is "is an entertaining adaptation that's hindered by a desire to recreate every major event found in its source material."
