Venom 3 Speculation Mounts After Deleted Sony Video Pits Tom Hardy Against Topher Grace

Sony posted and then swiftly deleted a video featuring Tom Hardy and Topher Grace fighting each other in a mash-up of clips from their movies, sparking speculation of a potential crossover in Venom 3.

A now-deleted post from the official Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK TikTok account is making the rounds on social media after X user @SpiderMan_Newz saved and shared the 30-second video of "Tom Hardy's Venom vs. Topher Grace's Venom fight" before the studio quietly removed it from public view.

The video features clips from the Venom movies and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 to make it appear like the two Venoms are going up against each other, leading some fans to believe that a multiversal adventure might be on the way with both Hardy's Venom and Grace's Venom appearing in the third Venom movie together.

Sony officially announced Venom 3 at CinemaCon in April 2022, but there is nothing to suggest this video is related to that movie; it could just be a fun social media post that has viewers surmising a connection between its content and the threequel, especially in light of the multiverse-spanning tales released in recent years.

The first Venom movie was released in 2018 and starred Hardy as Eddie Brock and alien symbiote Venom as the two learned to live with their coexistence. The 2021 sequel centered around Cletus Kasady and Carnage, who shared one body in a similar manner to Eddie and Venom, though they had less heroic aspirations.

The sequel ended with Eddie and Venom getting pulled into the MCU in a tease for an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but they only showed up in the mid-credits scene of that movie to bring Eddie/Venom back to his home universe along with other Spider-Man villains - though a slither of symbiote was left behind.

Hardy confirmed in June 2022 that the script for Venom 3 was complete but didn't reveal any details about it, so fans will need to wait a little longer to find out what Spider-Man: No Way Home means for the future of Venom as Venom 3 is not due to hit theaters until July 12, 2024 (and that date could change due to the strikes).
