Percy Jackson and the Olympians Teaser Offers Best Look Yet at Disney Plus Series

A new teaser trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians is here, and it offers an even better look at the heroic quest Walker Scobell's titular demigod is about to embark on in the upcoming Disney+ series.

Disney+ has released a brand new teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians to give prospective viewers a fresh glimpse at what the show has in store. It might not be plain sailing for Percy as he sets out to find Zeus' lost lightning bolt to restore order to Olympus and hopefully turn the tide with the almighty sky god.

The latest poster for the live-action fantasy series reinforces the central conflict of the show, which is based on Rick Riordan's best-selling books, as Percy Jackson kneels down on a sandy beach with his sword in hand as a violent storm brews behind him and two voracious waves rise up, ready to come crashing down.

Joining Percy on his perilous journey are Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, played by Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri, respectively, alongside a supporting cast that includes Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, and Megan Mullally, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda in a key guest-starring role.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians will debut on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on December 20, 2023, followed by new episodes weekly until all eight episodes are out. It is not the first time that the book series has been adapted for the screen; two films were released in 2010 and 2013 with Logan Lerman in the titular role.

IGN's review of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief gave it 4/10 and said: "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is careful to tie up most of its plot points, whether they make sense or not, by the time the credits roll. That's just Fox and Columbus being smart -- if the film flops, who needs the embarrassment of a cliffhanger ending that will never be continued? But then again, that unwieldy title reeks of franchise. By the gods, let it not come to pass."
