The Flash Debuts On Max With Fewer Viewers Than Black Adam

The Flash had a pretty disappointing online streaming debut, as after dropping on Max last Friday, the DC superhero flick had even fewer viewers than Black Adam.

According to Deadline, The Flash was streamed by just 1.1 million U.S. households during in the two days after its debut. That’s an 8% decrease compared to Black Adam’s 1.2 million households.

Mediocre reviews and a dismal box office return spelled trouble for Black Adam, which reportedly lost up to $100 million. The film earned a modest $393 million worldwide, and it seemed that even Dwayne Johnson couldn’t save the faltering DC superhero flick.

Things were even worse for The Flash. Ezra Miller’s solo superhero film earned just $268 million worldwide — a rough figure for a film that effectively ended the DCEU. Now, the home streaming figures are just as meek.

It doesn’t help that Warner Bros. Discovery has lost 1.8 million subscribers since HBO Max relaunched as Max. However, The Flash wasn’t exactly destined for greatness, and with a 72% box office drop in its second weekend, the writing was already on the wall for one of DC’s latest superhero flops.

Still, it's at least doing better than Blue Beetle which has earned just $83.6 million worldwide so far.

IGN’s The Flash review gave it 7/10 and said: “The Flash is an ambitious superhero movie that largely pulls off its tale of two worlds, two Flashes, and two Batmans. The superhero fan service is strong with this one – perhaps too strong at times – but it never fully overshadows Barry Allen’s genuinely tragic and heartfelt story of grief.”
