Another Spider-Man film has made a surprise appearance on Disney+ today, August 11, as Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now available on the service.
The stealth release was spotted by ContractHolder on ResetEra but, like the previous dump of Spider-Man films, this is so far only available to those in the U.S.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sees Garfield's Peter Parker struggle to balance his superhero responsibilities with his high school ones. Jamie Foxx also stars in the film as Electro, a reclusive scientist who fell into a vat of electric eels and became an electric-spouting evil villain.
Critics didn't respond particularly positively to the film, despite it perhaps containing one of the most iconic live-action Spider-Man moments near its end. In IGN's 6/10 review, we said: "The villains of Amazing Spider-Man 2 disappoint in this overcrowded superhero sequel."
The state of Spider-Man cinema has been a little shaky thanks to Sony Pictures still owning the rights to make films, forcing Marvel (and Disney) to wrestle for streaming rights. Disney did secure a handful of films in April though, adding Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy, the original Amazing Spider-Man, Tom Holland's Spider-Man Homecoming, and Venom to the service.
