After a strong couple of weeks at the box office, A24’s horror breakout Talk to Me has been greenlit for a sequel.
A24 announced the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) today, which also included a reveal of the name of the sequel (and you can probably guess what it is): Talk 2 Me.

The production company also confirmed to IGN that Danny and Michael Philippou, also known as the YouTube duo of RackaRacka who made their feature debut on Talk to Me, will be returning to direct. Talk 2 Me will be written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman.
Talk to Me has been a solid performer since its July 28 debut, even with such fierce competition as Barbie and Oppenheimer, which opened just the week before. It grossed $14 million globally in its opening weekend, with $10 million of that coming from North America, marking A24’s second-biggest opening weekend ever after Hereditary. It’s currently sitting at $26 million globally, per Box Office Mojo.
It helped that it drummed up buzz with positive reviews out of the Sundance Film Festival. IGN gave it a 9/10, with Kenneth Seward Jr. calling it in his review “an engrossing, inventive, and at times, unsettling horror film.”
A24 didn’t give a timeline on when Talk 2 Me would debut or start production, although it’s worth noting that the Philippou brothers are also on board to direct Legendary’s upcoming live-action Street Fighter film. Development is complicated amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, but a couple of A24 films have qualified for SAG-AFTRA’s Interim Agreement, which allows them to continue production during the work stoppage.
