Alongside winning its third-straight weekend box office, Barbie has officially crossed $1 billion worldwide.
As reported by Comscore, Barbie brought in $53 million in North America and saw only a 43% drop from last weekend. Domestically, Barbie has reached $459.38 million.
Barbie's domestic performance was enough to hold off the shark-shaped monster that is Meg 2: The Trench, although the sequel was able to secure an impressive second-place victory with $30 million. In international waters, Meg 2: The Trench earned another $112 million for a global total of $142 million.
In our Meg 2: The Trench review, we said it is "an awful sequel that relies too heavily on copying far better executed genre films, doomed to go down as one of the summer’s biggest disasters."
Oppenheimer fell to third place by just barely failing to surpass Meg 2: The Trench with $28.7 million in its third weekend in theaters. Oppenheimer's North American total has reached $228.56 million and worldwide the film is sitting at $552.94 million.
Oppenheimer also became the 8th biggest IMAX release of all time worldwide and is the 2nd fastest IMAX film to reach $100 million in like-for-like markets (no China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem made a strong first impression with domestic ticket sales equaling $28 million. The latest TMNT movie opened in 24 international markets as well and brought in another $8.5 million for a global total of $51.5 million.
In our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayehm review, we said it "oozes confidence, energy, and heart, and the animated adventure represents a new high for the Turtles on the big screen."
Rounding out the top five was Disney's Haunted Mansion, as it brought in $8.97 million domestically in its second weekend in theaters. Haunted Mansion has scared up $42 million in North America and $59.6 million worldwide.
