Netflix Really Wants People to Know Henry Cavill Is Still in The Witcher Season 3

Netflix really wants people to know Henry Cavill is still in The Witcher Season 3 and is advertising the fact in quite an odd way.

As spotted by GamesRadar, the streaming service has beamed the message "Yes, he's still Geralt in Season 3" across various UK landmarks, including Edinburgh Castle, the White Cliffs of Dover, and next to The Shard in London.

The show's official Twitter account shared the adverts (below), "just in case you need a reminder." Cavill has now left The Witcher but filmed the entirety of Season 3, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt starting in Season 4.

Some fans have found Netflix's advertising a little odd given it's otherwise claimed to be fully behind Hemsworth's addition to the show, though is seemingly admitting here that Cavill is the main draw.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich even said the team could've cancelled the show or written Geralt out after Cavill's departure, but opted not to because "there's just too many stories left to tell". Netflix is instead promising a "meta" transition to Hemsworth's version of Geralt, though it's unclear exactly how this will play out.

It isn't afraid to alter the source material though, and while fan reaction to these changes has gone both ways, many believe this resulted in Cavill's departure in the first place. Former producer Beau DeMayo even said some writers "actively disliked" and mocked Sapkowski’s books, but Hissrich denied this.

Season 3 is split into two parts, but in our 7/10 review of the first, IGN said: "The Witcher is back and more complex than ever, but its dry approach to courtly intrigue and prophecy stalls its few true instances of fantasy fun."
