Argylle, the Henry Cavill-led spy thriller from Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn, hits theaters in 2024.
Apple Original Films announced on Twitter that the espionage adventure arrives on the big screen on February 2, 2024, before streaming worldwide on Apple TV+ at a later, as yet unconfirmed date.
The movie looks set to be Cavill's first leading role since his exit from Netflix's The Witcher, with the former monster-hunter for hire now a world-class spy playing with fire. Cavill plays Argylle, the titular troubled agent who takes on one of the most powerful men in the world.
The film puts Argylle in a bit of an awkward situation. Suffering from amnesia, he is tricked into believing he is a best-selling spy novelist. However, once his memories and lethal spycraft skills come back to him, he goes down a path of revenge against the shadowy organization he used to work for, known only as the Division.
When word of the movie got out last year, fans who were accustomed to Cavill's long-haired locks as Geralt of Rivia struggled to accept his new spiky-haired 'do as the superspy at the center of this new story, which takes its title and premise from Elly Conway's yet-to-be-released novel.
Even though the book hasn't hit shelves yet, it's thought Vaughn is eyeing this new project as the start of a spy action franchise akin to Kingsman and its subsequent follow-ups, such as The King's Man. Whether or not those plans pan out remains to be seen, though.
Directed by Vaughn from a script penned by Jason Fuchs, Argylle features a star-studded cast that includes Dua Lipa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, Catherine O'Hara, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Rob Delaney.
While Argylle is a little way off from releasing in theaters, there are still plenty of can't-miss movies to keep you busy this summer and beyond.
