We already knew that Ahsoka was debuting this August, but now we know the exact date when the next Star Wars live-action series will hit Disney+.
Ahsoka will premiere on Aug. 23 on the streaming platform, Disney announced today. Disney also revealed a new TV spot with the announcement, which you can watch below.
Ahsoka will consist of eight episodes, and will air weekly like Disney+’s previous Star Wars shows. A Season 2 has not yet been greenlit (although Dawson is trying her best to “manifest” it).
Rosario Dawson stars as the titular former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano, returning after first bringing the beloved The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels character to live-action in The Mandalorian.
In addition to Dawson, Ahsoka also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
Writer and executive producer Dave Filoni and fellow executive producer Jon Favreau talked more about the series (and if fans who haven’t watched Clone Wars will be able to jump right into it) in an exclusive sitdown with IGN at Star Wars Celebration.
“I really do dive right into the story with Ahsoka, but I know more about it because of the work of Mandalorian,” Filoni said. “We never want to create a situation where you feel like you have to have seen these things because then you're missing out.”
