Nvidia has officially announced the next GPU in its RTX 40 series of desktop graphics cards, the RTX 4060 Ti, succeeding the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.
The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card will have two models: one with 8GB of memory, which will release on May 24 and retail for $399. The other will have 16GB of memory and will release sometime in July for $499.
Besides differences in pricing and memory, both RTX 4060 Ti models share the same specs, including the same number of RT Cores and Tensor Cores at 51 and 353 TFLOPs respectively. You can see the rest of the specs in the image below.
This marks Nvidia's second announcement of a graphics card with two different memory configurations in the RTX 40 series.
Last year, the company announced two versions of the RTX 4080 — one with 12Gb of memory and another with 16GB of memory. Nvidia would eventually "unlaunch" the 12Gb RTX 4080 graphics card, explaining in a blog post that although the unreleased 12GB RTX 4080 was a "fantastic graphics card," the GPU was "not named right" and "having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing."
Like the other GPUs in the RTX 40 series, both RTX 4060 Ti models use the Ada Lovelace graphical architecture and support the third-generation of Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling technology.
Nvidia is marketing this GPU as the card for those that want high FPS 1080p gaming. While 1080p might be considered obsolete for PC gaming to some, Nvidia notes that 77 percent of gamers play at a resolution of 1080p or less. And looking at Steam's April 2023 Hardware and Software survey, you'll see that the most popular GPU is the GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
Nvidia also announced the GeForce RTX 4060, which will release sometime in July and will cost $299.
