Mortal Kombat 2 Finds Its Kitana

Mortal Kombat 2 has officially added Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Adeline Rudolph as the assassin Kitana, IGN has confirmed with a source close to the production. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.

Kitana debuted in 1993’s Mortal Kombat II before becoming a franchise staple, having immediately made an impression on players. She has appeared in every subsequent installment.

Director Simon McQuoid, who helmed 2021’s Mortal Kombat reboot, returns to the director’s chair with Jeremy Slater hopping aboard as screenwriter. James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh will serve as producers.

Rudolph’s breakout role as one of the Weird Sisters on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina led to parts in Riverdale and Netflix’s Resident Evil series. She’ll be hitting the big screen as one of the leads in Brian Taylor’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

Joining Rudolph in the hotly anticipated sequel are her Chilling Adventures of Sabrina co-star Tati Gabrielle and Karl Urban, who will portray Jade and Johnny Cage, respectively.

The first film’s theatrical/streaming hybrid release proved a success for Warner Bros., despite the COVID-19 pandemic hurting its physical box office prospects. It was reportedly the most-streamed of all the movies that were released day-and-date on HBO Max during that period, which also included Dune, The Suicide Squad, and The Matrix Ressurections.

Mortal Kombat 2 does not yet have a release date.
