Fast X has raced off to a $67.5 million domestic weekend box office victory, which puts it in seventh place for opening weekends of The Fast and Furious franchise.
As reported by Comscore and Box Office Mojo, Fast X brought in a ton more overseas with box office sales reaching $251.38 million, making it the #1 international opening of the year ahead of both The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Globally, Fast X is currently sitting at $318.88 million and just trails The Super Mario Bros. Movie's $368 million global opening for the winner of 2023 so far.
In regards to its opening in North America, Fast X couldn't surpass the first weekends of F9: The Fast Saga ($70 million), Fast & Furious ($70 million), Fast Five ($86 million), Fast & Furious 6 ($97 million), The Fate of the Furious ($98 million), or Furious 7 ($147 million).
In our Fast X review, we said, "An underwhelming lead-up to the series finale, Fast X's only real redeeming quality is Jason Momoa's bonkers performance as the villain."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 took second place in its third weekend in theaters, bringing in another $31.98 million domestically. As it stands, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had earned $266.52 million in North America and $659.1 million globally.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is now available digitally, took third place in its seventh weekend in theaters with a domestic haul of $9.8 million. The Super Mario Bros. Movie has jumped to $549.29 million in North America and $1.24 billion globally.
Book Club: The Next Chapter took spot #4 with $3 million and Evil Dead Rise rounded out the top five with $2.37 million.
