Stitch Voice Actor and Creator Chris Sanders in Final Talks to Return for Live-Action Lilo & Stitch

Chris Sanders, the voice actor and creator of Stitch, is in final talks to star as the beloved alien once more in the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake.

As reported by THR, Sanders, who wrote and directed 2002's Lilo & Stitch alongside Dean DeBlois and voiced the character in the original film, many of its spin-offs, video games, and Lilo & Stitch: The Series, appears close to joining newcomer Maia Kealoha, who will be starring as Lilo.

In another bit of casting news for the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch, Nani's original voice actor, Tia Carrere, will play a new character named Mrs. Kekoa while Amy Hill, who played Mrs. Hasagawa in the original, will play another new character named Tūtū.

Nani will now be played by Sydney Elizebeth Agudong and David will be played by Kaipot Dudoit. While it wasn't made official, Kahiau Machado was said to become David in Lilo & Stitch, but he was recast when racial slurs were discovered on his social media.

Lastly, Zach Galifianakis was cast as Jumba, Billy Magnussen will play Pleakley, and Courtney B. Vance will be Cobra Bubbles in the film.

Sanders will not be directing the live-action remake, and instead Marcel the Shell With Shoes On's Dean Fleischer Camp will take the lead. Mike Van Waes wrote the original script for Lilo & Stitch and Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is adapting it for live-action.

No release date has been given as of yet for the new Lilo & Stitch, but it was originally said to be planned for release on Disney+.

In other Disney live-action news, Peter Pan & Wendy is set to fly to Disney+ on April 28, The Little Mermaid will swim to theaters on May 26, and Moana will sail to live-action in the future.
