Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the directing duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, have helmed an episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the live-action Disney+ series starring Jude Law.
As first reported by One Take News and confirmed by Variety, sources close to the production of Skeleton Crew indicated that the Daniels helmed an episode of the upcoming Star Wars series, even though there has been no official announcement regarding the participating directors.
Kwan has since confirmed on his Instagram Stories that he and Scheinert have directed an episode of Skeleton Crew. "We guest directed one episode," he wrote. "Jon Watts approached us to do an episode a while ago (before EEAAO even came out).
"We love Jon, love Star Wars, love learning new tech, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our healthcare (!!!) so it was an easy yes," he explained further. "We shot it last year and had an incredible time working with the most talented cast and crew and I'm excited for you all to see it."
It was confirmed at the start of the year that Skeleton Crew had wrapped filming, meaning that the Daniels had already completed principal photography on their Star Wars episode before walking away with the highest honors at the Oscars earlier this month.
The Daniels' multiversal romp Everything Everywhere All at Once made the leap from intriguing indie to awards juggernaut this year, surpassing The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King as the most-awarded movie in Hollywood history with its numerous accolades.
Kwan confirmed in his social media post that their next movie will be "an original Daniels project," even though they journeyed to the galaxy far, far away last year to put their unique spin on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is set to debut on Disney+ later in 2023.
