Scream 6 earned $44.5 million domestically during its opening weekend, beating out Creed III to win the North America weekend box office.
According to data from Comscore, Scream 6's $44.5 million haul marks the best debut in the Scream franchise, passing 2000's Scream 3. IGN called Scream 6 amazing in our review, where we said, "Emotions and brutality are at an all-time high in Scream 6, setting it up to be the best sequel in the franchise yet." The movie had a budget of $35 million, meaning it's on track to turn a profit during its theatrical run.
The Scream sequel beat out Michael B. Jordan's Creed III, which earned $27.2 million during its second week in theaters. The movie has crossed the $100 million mark domestically after a very strong opening weekend. The movie is on track to pass both the original Creed and Creed II, which raked in $109 million and $115 million, respectively.
Elsewhere, the Adam Driver-led 65 placed third in its opening weekend, bringing in $12.3 million. The movie had a budget of $45 million, so it has a long way to go to make its cost back.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is in the cusp of crossing $200 million domestically, as the movie brought in $7 million in its fourth weekend. The third Ant-Man movie sits at $197 million domestically, ahead of the first Ant-Man's $180 million, but behind Ant-Man and the Wasp's $216 million.
Cocaine Bear rounded out the top five with $6.2 million, and other movies in the top ten included Jesus Revolution, Champions, Avatar: The Way of Water, Demon Slayer, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
