Marvel’s Thunderbolts has found its writer in the form of Beef scribe, Lee Sung Jin.
During an interview with Variety, Jin revealed that he will be rewriting the Thunderbolts script based on a first draft by Eric Pearson. Jin will also be teaming up once again with Beef director Jake Schreier as well as the show’s co-star, Steven Yeun, who will appear in Thunderbolts.
“It’s the whole squad again,” he said. “Jake asked me if I would come on board. I probably should have taken a break, but there’s a lot of themes and exciting things about the movie that I couldn’t help but sign on.”
Marvel’s Thunderbolts will see various not-so-heroic Marvel characters teaming up for the first time on the big screen. These include Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker (aka US Agent), Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, David Harbour as Red Guardian, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross. Essentially, think Suicide Squad but with Marvel characters.
“It’s truly an honour to be part of a Marvel thing, but it is very different,” said Jin. “One, it’s not my project, it’s Jake’s. It’s such a large scope and scale that the type of writing is very different. At the same time, the process feels the same, I’m still talking to Jake every day.”
He continued: “I think once you find the squad of people you love and trust and are so talented, you do everything you can to keep working with them.”
Steven Yeun’s role is currently shrouded in secrecy, and he's joined by The Bear star Ayo Edibiri in yet-another unknown role.
