Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Is Already Planned

It seems that the MCU's Daredevil is going to be around for awhile, as Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio revealed that a second season is already planned.

In an interview with Newsweek, D'Onofrio revealed that a second season of the Disney+ show has already been planned. According to the Kingpin actor, fans should look forward to some big payoffs in both Season 1 and 2.

"By the second season, there are gigantic, gigantic payoffs — in the first season, too, but I can't say much about that — but the fans are gonna really get what they want," D'Onofrio said. "It's really quite cool to be doing it."

D'Onofrio is reprising his role as Wilson Fisk in the upcoming series alongside Charlie Cox's Daredevil, who will see the spotlight for the first time in his MCU career. Cox's rendition of the blind vigilante first appeared in the Netflix series Daredevil, but this is separate from the MCU, with Born Again being his official main character debut.

But thanks to a few cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, MCU fans have been formally introduced to Cox's Matt Murdock. Daredevil: Born Again, which is currently filming and will hit Disney+ in 2024, will see faces new and old as Daredevil cleans up crime in New York City. Alongside D'Onofrio and Cox, Jon Bernthal will be returning as The Punisher.

Despite having so many returning faces to the series, D'Onofrio still believes that Daredevil: Born Again will be "very different" from the Netflix show, which was beloved for its gritty tone.

"We've only just started shooting. I think we're a couple weeks in, and the show is going to be very, very different than the Netflix show, and it's so exciting because what we're doing is quite something," D'Onofrio said. But what, exactly is that "something?" Well, according to D'Onofrio, it's all about serving the show's fans.

"I think it's something that people are not going to expect," he said. "But, always with these [old Marvel] comic stories that are being revisited and reinvented by us actors, and the writers, the main thing is to answer the fans. To give them what they want but try to be original in some way at the same time, and so that's what we're doing on the show. It's definitely an original way to look at this, and it's really deep, really emotional."

Cox, too, has previously discussed how the new show will be different than the Netflix series, saying that "it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory." He's also previously hinted that the new show may be something similar in tone to Deadpool. In fact, he thinks that a team-up between the two supes would totally make sense.
