Virtually Heroes: Exclusive Trailer and Poster for Lost Mark Hamill Gamer Movie

There’s a new Mark Hamill movie coming out -- a “new” movie that was actually made 10 years ago! Virtually Heroes, an action-comedy that parodies Call of Duty-style games, casts Hamill in a supporting role where he riffs on his wise Jedi persona (and shot years before he would actually reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episodes VII-IX).

IGN can exclusively debut the trailer for Virtually Heroes, which you can watch via the player above or the embed below. We also have the exclusive new poster seen below.

Produced by the king of low-budget filmmaking, Roger Corman, Virtually Heroes premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2013 but is only just now being released. Screen Media will launch the G.J. Echternkamp-directed movie digitally on January 17.

In addition to Mark Hamill, Virtually Heroes stars Robert Baker (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Brent Chase (Shameless), and Katie Savoy (Living with Models).

The official synopsis below sheds light on what the gamer flick is all about:

“Two self-aware characters in a Call of Duty-inspired video game battle endless enemies and their own existential crises when Sgt. Books seeks help from a straight-talking Monk (Mark Hamill) who teaches him the cheat codes of life.

Now he can finally break free from the game’s endless battles, take a break from saving the girls at the end of each level, and convince his fellow warrior Lt. Nova that not everything in this game world is as awesome as it seems.”

After a decade-long wait, Virtually Heroes can finally be seen come January 17.
