It's time to raise your cups of hot cocoa in celebration because The Santa Clauses is getting a second season.
Disney+ decided to spread some Christmas cheer right before the holidays by announcing a season two renewal of The Santa Clauses. The news arrived the same day that the streamer debuted the first season finale, wrapping up the six-episode series that launched in November.
Tim Allen will be boarding the sleigh again to take the reins as executive producer on the second season while also continuing in the role of Santa Claus, aka Scott Calvin, alongside Elizabeth Mitchell, who is reprising her role at the North Pole as Mrs. Claus, aka Carol Calvin.
Jack Burditt serves as showrunner on the original series, which acts as a continuation of The Santa Clause film trilogy. Burditt also executive produces alongside Allen, Kevin Hench, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, and Small Dog Picture Company's Jason Winer and Jon Radler.
"This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions," said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. "Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I'm grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season."
The first season of The Santa Clauses saw Scott struggle to keep up with the demands of his job, as well as being there for his family. Consequently, he considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.
Season 1 is now streaming on Disney Plus.
