Amazon has confirmed three of its Season 2 directors for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, including those who've previously worked on The Witcher, The Sandman, and The Wheel of Time.
Charlotte Brändström, who directed The Rings of Power Season 1's Udûn and The Eye episodes will lead four episodes in the new season and also serve as co-executive producer. The remaining two directors, Louise Hooper and Sanaa Hamri - will both direct two episodes.
Outside of The Rings of Power, Brändström's previous work also includes directing The Witcher Season 1's Bottled Appetites and Rare Species episodes. She's also worked on The Man in the High Castle, Outlander, and Madam Secretary.
Hooper directed the Season 1 finale of Netflix's The Sandman alongside two episodes from The Witcher Season 2: Dear Friend and Voleth Meir.
Finally, Hamri acted as executive producer on The Wheel of Time Season 2 and was also executive producer and director of Empire. Her other directing credits include episodes of Shameless, Nashville, Glee, and Desperate Housewives.
Alongside new directors, Amazon has been busy adding several new cast members to The Rings of Power including Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, and Nicholas Woodeson. Orc Leader, Adar, previously played by Joseph Mawle, has also been recast and will now be played by Sam Hazeldine.
Season 2 of The Rings of Power is currently in production in the UK with no premiere date revealed so far. In our 8/10 review of Season 1, IGN said: "Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power captures the epic scope and beauty of Tolkien’s work."
