Percy Jackson and the Olympians has found its Hermes – Lin Manuel Miranda.
An official announcement via Twitter confirmed that the 42-year-old actor and filmmaker will be suiting up as one of the Greek gods in the upcoming Percy Jackson TV series.
“A message from the messenger god himself: Lin Manuel Miranda is Hermes in #PercyJackson and the Olympians, an Original series coming to #DisneyPlus,” the Tweet reads.

The upcoming Percy Jackson series is heading to Disney+ and was announced back in 2020.
Based on the popular book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians will star Walker Scobell in the titular role, who is said to be a big Percy Jackson fan himself.
“Aside from being a rising star, Walker is also a super-fan of the books, having read everything through The Trials of Apollo,” said original author, Rick Riordan. “The excitement is so thick you could cut it with a Celestial bronze sword. Walker is an avid skateboarder and skier, and is super excited to get to Vancouver and start working on swordplay, holding his breath underwater, and other stunts of derring-do.”
Scobell will be joined by Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, daughter of the goddess Athena.
The first trailer for the upcoming Percy Jackson series was revealed at D23 earlier this year and gave us our first glimpse of Scobell as Percy Jackson – the 12-year-old modern demigod/half-blood who is accused by Zeus of stealing his lightning bolt.
Now, Percy must find it if he hopes to restore order to Olympus.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been previously adapted for the big screen in 2010 and 2013 with Logan Lerman in the title role.
IGN’s review of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief gave it 4/10 and said: “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is careful to tie up most of its plot points, whether they make sense or not, by the time the credits roll. That's just Fox and Columbus being smart -- if the film flops, who needs the embarrassment of a cliffhanger ending that will never be continued? But then again, that unwieldy title reeks of franchise. By the gods, let it not come to pass.”
